Warning: Not PC

Excuse me while I adjust my soapbox....there. I'm not a Constitutional scholar, I don't even play one on TV. I need some one to show me where the Founding Fathers wanted God out of our country. I thought their intent was to stop any one religion from taking over . Would John Hancock
have objected to a cross as a War Memorial? Would John Jay have ordered it torn down? Who can say because no one would have thought to object. The tribute has stood in the Mojave Desert for 70 some years, now someone is "outraged and offended"? It's one of those things that I can't begin to understand. I ain't real bright and it makes my head hurt to think about it. Memorials are for the living, not the dead. If this brings peace to someone why is it a bad thing?

  1. Agreed. If it offends, then don't go there and look at it!

  2. If I am not mistaken, you've posted a picture of the cross on Mt. Soledad in San Diego (about five miles from my house). This public debate has been a sore spot in our city for many years. An interesting yet gruesome aside: years and years ago a troubled teen climbed up the cross and threw himself down on the spiky railings thus impailing himself. As I recall, he was stuck there for hours.

  3. I spend much of my life outraged, amused and offended. I fear if all the outrageous things went away someone would create more.

    keep up the good fight.

  4. Well spoken. I can't tell you how long I have thought this whole PC thing has been out of control.

  5. Oh, James, thank goodness you exist, as the French say; "Otherwise we would have to invent you."

You know this PC business is getting out of control when even the French are watching what they're saying (not what they're doing of course, the usual. . .)

    You are sooooo refreshing.

    Warmest regards,
    Tish

P.S.: If I had some frequent flyer miles I certainly would show up at your wife's Christmas Eve party. This business of being all dressed-up with no place to go is getting me down.

  6. I totally agree with you.

We live in a world where PC has run wild. It's destroying so many of the traditions of our culture. If you don't want to see that cross, then don't go there. Don't be so sensitive.

I think the Founding Fathers would be rolling over in their graves over what's been going on in this country for decades now.

  7. James....you absolutely have to read Londonistan if you haven't. P.C. is costing lives.

By the way, the Founders didn't want a State Religion. The Church of England was what they didn't want. The said NOTHING about not wanting God in the mix.

  8. It is very heartening to see that so many of you feel like I do. I don't believe there is any excuse for racism or sexism. It simply isn't right. However if I stand when you enter the room, and I still do that, I'm no sexist pig. Common sense.

  9. Love the post. We have a cross here in Orlando that is the same size or maybe a little bigger but I hear it has offended many. I guess if God walked out of the lives of those offended, maybe they would feel differently. It makes me proud to see a giant cross. Yes...we believe in God.Deal with it.

  10. Sir, you are absolutely correct. I believe the 1st Amendment provides freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

Thank you so much for your wonderful blog.
