I don't possess many talents. I could never hit a curve ball and was always a sucker for a trap block. What I can do well is omelets. Manly omelets, no parsley garnish on these! Eggs, ham or sausage and American cheese. A little salt. a little fresh ground pepper and ta-da! You are allowed Teflon, but not those two part omelet makers. The entire art of the omelet is the flip and fold. My daughters loved my creations .I still can see them sitting at our table waiting.Three sets of bed hair giggling and sometimes arguing, but always happy when the food came ! Toast and juice and let the feast begin. Sigh... they tell you it goes by fast, enjoy every minute and you try, but it goes by fast. Soon they don't come until every hair is in place and then "just juice and toast,Dad". And then there were none. Still did the omelets when they came home from college, but always one at a time. Wait this has a happy ending. This year for the first time in three years all my daughters will be here on Christmas morning, AND they all want omelets! I am a well and contented man.
I'm horrible with omelets, but I'm great with Belgian Waffels. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDear, dear James,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. I hope your Christmas was wonderful -- you still have a few hours left, enjoy, enjoy.

I have a friend whose marriage broke down this year and who said that she couldn't give everything to her kids like when their Dad was there, so I told her that Christmas isn't about the gifts you give, but the moments you have with the ones you love. Your post sums that up so well.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering one thing tho' my friend.......
Bed head or Neat and tidy??????????
Just curious!!!!!!!
Much love
Lia

I hope you have/had a wonderful time with your daughters (mine is leaving home end of year for college, a very depressing thought).
ReplyDeleteBelated merry Christmas and wishes for a Very prosperous New Year.
Can you believe, we are already 10 years into the new millennium? It feels like yesterday we celebrated the arrival of 2000! It would be nice to slow time down... just for a bit.
PS. I left a comment on your blog some time ago and came back to read some more... I do enjoy reading your posts!
Beautiful, what a truly lovely post, hope that the bed-heads read it and realise how lucky they are.
ReplyDeleteHope that you had an epic Christmas and all your dreams come true in 2010!
Regards and warm wishes from a rather chilly UK
