Seek and ye shall find him

Kind of a strange week wasn't it? It is almost as if someone has thrown the doors to the asylum wide open. I'm pretty much non political by nature. It always amazes me when people are upset that a politician acts likes a politician. Palin kills a caribou and it outrages some media types. The only thing that bothers me is Bill Maher called it a moose. Research my boy. key to everything. Tuition goes up and protesters attack the oft-times misunderstood Prince of Wales and his Duchess. Like that will fix anything. Then tonight I see that some Iranian groups are upset that the US Navy sometimes refers to the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf.I want to beat my head on the wall 'cause it's gonna feel so good when it quits hurting.I go to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. There sitting on the floor register is 2 1/2 year old Ethan. Warm air is blowing all around him. I ask what are you doing. He looks at me like that is the silliest question he has ever heard. "I warming my pants Granddad". Serious as hell. You see instead of being upset at things that either don't concern me or I can't change,I should have been sitting on the kitchen floor with the one guy who knew what he was doing. I love you me little man.

  2. Dear James,
You are so right. Why bother with stuff that is out of your control. Ethan has definitely got the right idea. There is nothing better than warming your pants, is there ?!!
I am a little embarrassed about the protesting students. I have to say though, that amongst the peaceful protesters there were more infiltrators who were just there to cause trouble.
The trouble now is, they have done nothing to highlight their cause........all they have done is made the general public angry and not have any sympathy for them.......and, poor Charles and Camilla.....whether one is a royalist or not, they must have been very scared......and, the security issue is worrying too.
Right, poitical rant over, I just want to thank you for your lovely comments this year James. It must be difficult for you, trying to comment on the girly drivle I post !!!!!!
.....oh, and our son and daughter-in-law are expecting a baby in April. Yay. XXXX

  5. I'm with him. Sometimes it's the small and simple things that delight us the most.
By the way...my children always run to the heater vents to see who gets one to themselves first. The slowpokes end up having to share, but it's very cute because the slowpokes huddle up together, throw a blanket around themselves to trap the warm air in and camp there until breakfast is ready. The posession of leasure is a grand thing, I'm the one who has to make the breakfast.

  6. It seems when I get fed up with the world - 10 minutes with my two children make everything A-okay again!

  9. He is such a doll. James I barely watch the news anymore, it is so ludicrous most of the time!

The time with my grandchildren make my life worthwhile!

  15. I agree with you, but with all the things you mentioned in the news this week the one I really didn't 'get' were the student protests in London. Oh, well.

Since becoming a grandmother 18 months ago, when I am now having a bad day, I look at the face of that angel and once again my world is perfect.

    He is absolutely beautiful, James.

  16. Ah to be a child again and know the importance of simple things. Precious!

If we all took the time to do a little proverbial "pant warming", maybe the world would be a better place.

  17. James,
Well said! Sometimes the world seems so crazy, and then in two seconds, a child can give us new perspective and new hope. Ethan is precious.

  18. It only we could all look through the eyes of a child. After my rant the other day on the latest current events happening in the world, I've had to stand back and just take in the season. I had a snow day with my kids on Monday and while I had to work on the laptop some, I tried to savor the time I had with them. Although, by the end of the day, I did have to relax with a glass of wine. :) (And, I'm with Ethan - there's nothing better than warming up next to the heat register. :)

  19. We've lost our moral/ethical compass. I wouldn't care so much if it wasn't for what our kids and grandkids are going to inherit.

  20. This is so heartwarming. I warm up my pants more often, too, I guess. MMxx

  22. Great post! I love being a grandparent ( I have five grandchildren ages 1-11) They do and say just exactly what is on their minds. I love that freedom. Anytime life gets you to the point of banging your head. I say head to the grand kids a hug from them makes the rest of the world melt away. Hugs
P.S. my grandson Noah loves the heater vent, he lays on it and covers himself with his favorite blanket. Says it warms "hims self"
